Luke Voit (Former Redbird) Gets His Major League Call Up

"It's what I've been waiting for since I was a little kid," Luke Voit said after his first press conference after getting the call he's been waiting for since he can remember. Luke made the trip north on 55 from Memphis to join the St Louis Cardinals for the series finale against the Pittsburg Pirates on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. The Lafayette product and former St Louis Redbird entered his first game as a pinch hitter Sunday night and worked a great at bat to a 3-2 count until finally being drilled by a 96 mph fastball from Pittsburg's Jhan Marinez.

On Monday afternoon, Luke drew is first Major League start at 1st base and was hitting in 6 hole for the Cardinals. In his 3rd at bat of the game, Luke ripped a double to the right center gap for a double to record his first Major League Hit.

The entire off season Luke worked on his game and swing to make him an elite hitter. He knows what his roll is to be in the Major Leagues, hit doubles and home runs and drive in runs! The double yesterday was proof that the work he put in this offseason at 314 Training Academy on their HitTrax machine, is finally paying off!
